Cycling the Levante Camino, Caravaca Jubilee Year 2024. North-West Greenway, Region of Murcia

Cycling the Levante Camino is a spiritual and rewarding adventure that can be enjoyed by families as well as more experienced cyclists looking for a challenge. Whether completed in a single day or over several stages, almost any time of year is ideal for riding the Levante Camino by bike, with the exception of summer, when temperatures can be extremely high. One particularly special time to experience the route is during Easter Week.

This is when the route is at its most vibrant. Spring brings almond blossom, native wildflowers and some of the most important celebrations and events in the Region of Murcia. Travelling from the city of Murcia to Caravaca de la Cruz during the 2024 Jubilee Year, you will encounter a festive atmosphere, lively streets, cultural traditions and celebrations at every turn.

Culture, gastronomy and contrasting landscapes

Following the Levante Camino along the greenway is like taking a journey through time, discovering the many cultures that have shaped this region over the centuries. Jewish, Arab and Christian influences can all be found along the route, together with traces of even earlier civilisations such as the Iberians and the Romans.

At the beginning of the route, you can explore the vibrant streets of the city of Murcia. Further along, you can relax and recharge in the thermal baths of Mula, sample the wines of Bullas with their protected designation of origin, and visit the Iberian settlement of Begastri in Cehegín, located right beside the route.

At the end of the journey, cyclists arrive in Caravaca de la Cruz, home to the Sanctuary of Vera Cruz and the revered Lignum Crucis relic.

Our recommendation for cycling the Levante Camino

Based on our experience at The Osados organising cycling holidays, and after listening to the feedback of the many travellers who have completed the Levante Camino via the North-West Greenway with us, we recommend allowing five days to fully enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace.

The route can, however, be completely customised in terms of duration and daily stages, depending on individual preferences and fitness levels.
